Central Illinois Honor Flight

As the ranks of America's World War II Veterans continue to shrink at the rate of 1,000 per day, so does our chance to honor these heroes, these members of "The Greatest Generation."

Central Illinois Honor Flight offers free flights for Veterans to the World War II Memorial erected to commemorate the sacrifices of these brave individuals in Washington, D.C. In our first year, Central Illinois Honor Flight flew 296 World War II Veterans from the Central Illinois area to see their memorial.

We are happy to announce our 2012 Memorial Day Fundraiser!

Last year's event was a tremendous success, and we're hoping for an even better turnout in 2012!

Last year we had an overwhelming number of veterans who took advantage of our bus service to our fundraiser. This year we are making buses available again for veterans, their family and friends. Thanks to Taylor Law Offices in Effingham and American Family Insurance, there will be no charge for the buses, although they will be on a first come-first serve basis. Missions are being scheduled for 2012!

May 23-24, 2012 - Overnight trip. Charter Flight from Champaign, IL. All guardians and veterans scheduled for this trip have already been notified.

September, 2012 - Charter Flight from Marion, IL - Date to be announced.

October, 2012 - Charter Flight from Champaign, IL - Date to be announced.

November 10-11, 2012 - Veteran's Day Mission. Location and details to be announced.

All Veterans and Guardians for the September, October, and November flights will be notified approximately 6 weeks prior to the flight.

Volunteer your Time - Central Illinois Honor Flight is run by people that give freely of their time to do what they can to show their respect and appreciation for America's veterans. Help is always needed with administrative support, marketing and outreach, fundraising, and trip support. If you can volunteer your time, please call 217-254-2986.

Become a Guardian - Guardians shepherd our American veterans on the trip to Washington D.C., and are responsible for their safety, comfort and enjoyment.
